Dressings

Most store bought dressings and sauces, savoury or sweet, contain too much salt, too much sugar and as host of nasties (in the form of additives, colouring and preservatives).  Believe it or not, making your own is very, very easy (with most containing only a small number of ingredients) and as you will learn tastes far superior.

Dressings are super quick to make (even if you don't have a hight speed blender, an electric  hand purifier or even a hand whisk will work.  Unlike commercial dressings that last for months (due to so many preservatives, these dressings, filled with raw goodness will need to be replaced every 7-10 days (which you won't have to worry about because you will have used it all up anyway :-)  Dressings must be kept refrigerated.  Shake well before use.

Every Day Essentials - Raw - Creamy Deliciousness

Balsamic, Mustard Every Day Dressing

Most of us enjoy our food with something to dip, spread or splash it in! Making a super quick, simple dressing that you can use for salads, sandwiches, wraps, grains, whatever you like, can therefore make all the difference.  This is a staple in my home.  The blend of ingredients gives you a sumptuous taste of sweet and savoury all in one.

Ingredients

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, 1/4 cup 100% maple syrup, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1 tablespoon wholegrain mustard.

How to make - In an electric  or hand held blender

Blend all ingredients until smooth.  Pour dressing into a glass jar or bottle.  Keep in refrigerator.  Shake before use.  Use within 7-10 days.

Tangy Lemon, Oil + Garlic Dressing

This dressing with its sweet, savoury and sour flavour is heaven with your healthy food.  I particularly love this dressing on salad, avocados, steamed green beans and over pasta.  Unlike most supermarket dressings all the ingredients here add to a nutritious diet.  Easy to prepare and store.

Ingredients

2/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, 3 cloves garlic, 8 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp dijon mustard, 3 tsp runny honey, sprinkle of sea salt.

How to make - In an electric  or hand held blender

Creamy Chocolate (cacao) Sauce

The first time I made this I was blown away with the simplicity and also the taste, and I am happy to report, so were my boys.  If some of your younger family members need more fruit in their life, adding a drizzle of this healthy choc sauce may be the answer to your prayers :-) Perfect atop fruits, on pancakes and desserts that may need a little something!

Ingredients

1cup 100% maple syrup, 6 tbsp cacao powder (no added sugar)

How to make - In an electric  or hand held blender

Blend the maple syrup and powder until smooth.  Pour dressing into a glass jar or bottle.  Keep in refrigerator.  Shake before use.  Use within 7-10 days.
